JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Tzfat chief rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu was assaulted and verbally abused by members of the Berland chasidic group, who also injured Jerusalem deputy mayor Aryeh King.  In the past, Rabbi Eliyahu has criticized their leader, Rabbi Eliezer Berland, for abusing various members of his community. Rabbi Eliyahu encouraged the women to report the offenses to the police and submit complaints against Rabbi Berland.

Rabbi Eliyahu said Monday on Israeli radio that “I am physically OK but emotionally I am suffering deep pain. We were there and a small group of Berland’s disciples decided that they did not like me standing up to their rabbi and attacking him for abusing female members of his community.”

Rabbi Eliyahu added that “they decided to attack me. They hurled a piece of metal which hit [Jerusalem deputy-mayor] Aryeh King who was standing next to me. He was injured and lost consciousness for a few scary moments.”

Police intervened in the melee and arrested two people for disturbing the peace. They also dispersed the people who were gathered to cite the Hilula [anniversary] of the death of Shimon Hatzadik, a Second Temple High Priest.

“They nearly murdered someone.” says Rabbi Eliyahu. “This man [Rabbi Berland] must be thrown in jail, he incites people to perform criminal acts.”

Aryeh King responded to the injury he incurred, stating that “this is not the way of Torah, not the legacy of Shimon Hatzadik. I forgive the criminal who threw the metal, which was aimed at Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu shlita, he is a Tinok Shenishba [i.e. not responsible for his actions]”

We are no different then the Taliban. Those who know the story are shocked to the core. Here we have this so called “Rabbi” whom one of his followers brought his MARRIED daughter for consultation for a problem she was having. What did the good Rabbi do – Rape her. Not just that…..he did this good deed while her own father was sitting in another room in the house. How low and demented can we get??
Now we have his followers shouting “Mosser” at Rabbi Elehaui for taking a stand. There are multiple direct testimonies to Bes Din of his taking advantage of woman. His family knew about his problem and tried to keep him close by, in his home to keep two eyes on him, but other followers got him out of the families clutches and he was able to continue his good deed. His own son admitted to this fact.
May hashem give Berland have a “lictiger” Gehenim – Raping married woman R’L

this Berland (which deserves a YM’Sh as his tittle) stands accused of raping FRUM woman from his community (who think he’s GOD and can do what he pleases), and of sending thugs to kill a teen-ager (and a 40 year old) for having contact with girls. and much more.

this is the logical conclusion, the final station if you will, of what happens when you turn mere mortals, fallible humans into GODS.

it never ends well, and Shuvu Banim is not the only community suffering the consequences of this derangement. Mendel vishnitz, & Ger are just 2 more examples, but there are many more, it all starts with turning Rebbes into infallible idols,

very sad because its not even a Jewish idea, it comes from Christianity. so why on earth did WE fall into this trap???

Rav Eliyahu is a Tzaddik and following his family tradition an exemplary Rav. Having this deviant Berland sect and their sick apikursim leaders as enemies further demonstrates the chashivus of Rav Eliyahu shlita

That is what is missing. OK, some one disagrees with you. You think he is totally wrong, totally off the straight path, but that does not mean you can attack him with nasty words or throw rocks at him.

Every one has their opinion, but the cornerstone of a healthy society is RESPECT for people who think differently than you.

The article sn renamed: fleeing machlokes and opened with: I forgive the criminal who threw the metal, which was aimed at Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu shlita, he is a Tinok Shenishba [i.e. not responsible for his actions]”

““They nearly murdered someone.” says Rabbi Eliyahu. “This man [Rabbi Berland] must be thrown in jail, he incites people to perform criminal acts.””

First, that should be written as:
““This man [Rabbi Berland] must be thrown in jail; he incites people to perform criminal acts.””

To the point: Even in the “Religious Zionist” faith, they must be aware of Chazal’s dictum of “Ain shaliach liDvar aveirah”.

Put simply: the one who threw the metal piece is the one at fault, not his alleged cult leader.
