The man and woman loaded a cart with a bunch of expensive items in Grovetown, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. When they got to the register, they made several credit card transactions, but did not actually charge their card, as reported on Fox News.
The pair reportedly then confused the cashier by requesting that the “cash” button on the register be hit in order for their credit card to work.
The confused cashier followed their instructions, hitting the button which allowed the items to get rung up as a cash purchase, so their credit cards were not charged. The problem is, they did not pay actual cash.
You cannot make this stuff up.
The pair stole more than $6,000 in merchandise and gift cards, according to authorities. The sheriff’s office is calling the incident a “theft by deception.”
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Department said on Facebook that one suspect has been identified, the other has not.
The incident took place on Nov 30.
The shoppers should have gone to San Francisco where looters aren’t prosecuted. Could just walk right out with the merch
theft by deception is called fraud. not sure why this is news. slow news day? fraud occurs in person and online 24/7 and always will. as far as the unsuspecting cashier- looks like she fell asleep at the wheel..
Yes, and honest USA taxpayers must report every $600 & over sale….or else
America is gone
What is the race of the suspect?
the cashier must have been one of those low IQ Hershel Walker voters.
didn’t know that schvatz were so intelligent. Nice crime?
He swiped his card/s (although could have been stolen) & they have photos of the couple – should not be too hard for police to catch these thieves.
