ISRAEL (VINnews) — The designated Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, is still trying to build a coalition. According to a report by Walla news, he promised the Hareidi parties Shas and UTJ that his government will make sure that no student will ever sit in jail for Torah learning.
The new government plans to advance a basic law designating studying in a yeshiva as a core legal value. This will cause many difficulties for the High Court of Justice to invalidate the arrangement that exempts Torah students from service in the IDF.
According to political sources, Netanyahu told the leaders of the above parties: “In the Jewish state, no one will go to prison for learning Torah”.
The Ultra-Orthodox, Shas, and UTJ are close to signing an agreement with Netanyahu towards the formation of a new government and as of Thursday morning, they are pleased with the progress in the coalition negotiations.

I guess he’s concerned about his Torah-learning grand son who is growing older…. (I’m sarcastic so hold your anger)

Hopefully he’ll keep pedo-lovers like Yakov Litzman out of the new government.

Plenty of people do both army and yeshiva , so I’m not sure why this statement has to exempt anybody .
