NEW YORK (VINnews) — New York health authorities are threatening to fine private schools across the state if they are not up to date on immunizations.

The move is seen as a response to a recent discovery of poliovirus in wastewater samples from areas in and around New York City, as well as one case of paralytic polio reported in Rockland County.

A letter sent to administrators of yeshivos and other private schools and educational institutions stated that they will be subject to $2,000-a-day fine per student not fully vaccinated.

The letter reads as follows:

“In July 2022, the New York State Health Department reported paralytic polio in a young adult who was unvaccinated. The United States is now the only country in our hemisphere to report a case of polio acquired here. This unfortunate event has refocused our attention on the importance of vaccination and the role of school vaccination requirements in ensuring individual and community protection.

“It is essential for the health and safety of students and staff, and the public at large, that all schools comply with Public Health Law Section 2164 and associated regulations at 10 NYCRR Subpart 66-1 regarding school immunization and/or immunity coverage.

“This letter is intended to outline the responsibility of schools to ensure that each student has documentation of all required doses of vaccines on the recommended schedule or a valid medical exemption to immunization. It also outlines the penalties schools may face. Compliance with school mandates for vaccination applies to all public, private, and religious schools.

“A medical exemption is allowed when a student has a medical condition that prevents them from receiving a vaccine. Such conditions are relatively few, and they are protected by the successful vaccination of others. Any student for whom the school does not receive documentation within 14 days of the first day of school or daycare must be excluded. This 14-day period may be extended to 30 days for a student arriving in New York from out of state. Put simply, the child is not allowed to attend until documents are provided.

“It is the school’s responsibility to ensure compliance with the mandated vaccination requirements. Additionally, the Health Department may conduct an audit to check on school compliance. Following an audit, the Department will make available to the school the list of children who have failed to provide proof of vaccination compliance. The school then must pursue documentation of vaccination or valid medical exemption and, failing adequate documentation, pursue exclusion. The county health official or State Health Commissioner may also order exclusion of a student if the school fails to act.

“If a school does not meet its obligation to enforce vaccination mandates, it may be subject to fines. Please be advised that failure to comply with PHL § 2164 and 10 NYCRRR Part 66-1 will subject a school to sanctions by the Commissioner of Health, including fines of up to $2,000 per violation. Each day that a student who has not provided proof of immunity or a valid medical exemption is permitted to attend school constitutes a separate violation for which a fine can be assessed.

“Fines will also be assessed for failure to submit a mandatory annual School Immunization Survey. Further, in addition to being subject to fines by the Health Commissioner, a school may also be referred to the New York State Education Department to determine whether sanctions should be imposed pursuant to Education Law Section 911.”

In response to the letter, an internal letter was sent to parents in Satmar institutions urging them to complete immunizations so that the children can continue to attend schools.

The absolute #1 reason for humans’ life expectancy to be in the 70 age range and not 50 (in the 1940’s) is VACCINES.

Small pox, polio, measles, and dozens of deadly diseases have been virtually ERADICATED due to VACCINES.

Somehow the “frum” community has been infected with anti-vax conspiracy theories. Is a yeshiva education responsible for this?

I’m not anti vaccination, my children are up today on their vacation. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and should respect one another. It’s ok to disagree respectfully.
But In this case I would pull out my child/children for a few reasons and hire a rebbe and a teacher to teach them at home (even now that my children are in school I sit with them and do a lot of extra curriculum).
I don’t believe that the government should force and fine the schools (it’s not in the school control, except for not allowing the child/children to attendl) or the parents. To day it’s this and tomorrow it will be something else etc etc etc. For example they also want to force how and what to teach in yeshiva etc.
If anyone thinks public school is any better go look at the statistics and specially City schools. I attended both and my nephews and nieces are currently going. I learned much more from the Jewish schools that I went to and I’m not only talking about morality, I’m talking strictly curriculum. The public schools are felling their students.
Today they are not focused in teaching language arts, mathematics science and geography none of that. Today it’s all about gender or whatever other identity the child believes he is AKA a dog, a cat, a lizzard the list goes on, race theory and reward system were anyone is a winner even low student that are not eligible / entitled for certain positions. Girls and boys have a lot of pressure in the essence that girls always have to be made up and pretty to impress the boys and vice versa which takes away from their focus on academics. their also learning about all different types of drugs, drinking etc, I understand that is in our school too but not to the same magnitude at ALL!
If you are a white, straight man who is Republican good luck to you, you have all odds against you. And if you’re Jewish watch your back (this is nothing new even though anti-Semitism on an uptick this was always an issue).
This is only mentioning a few topics. The lists goes on .
if anyone thinks the public schools are better go try it out for a month and let us know how it’s is

The repeal of the vaccination exemption option must be reversed. The polio vaccination does not work and creates a viral load on the immune and other bodily systems. In short, the ‘science’ is quite speculative. No vaccines – or other medical protocols, should ever be forced – or coerced.
