BROOKLYN (VINnews) — A disturbing new video shows an Uber driver making some anti-Semitic comments to his Jewish passenger.

In the video, posted to Twitter by user Jason Bedrick, the driver asks him if he goes to church to pray to God. The passenger answers that yes he prays to God.
After a few quiet moments, the passenger asks the driver, “What were you saying, there’s too many Jewsin this part?”
“Yes, there’s too much, too much Jews,” answers the driver.
It was dark when my Uber driver picked me up, so he probably didn’t notice that I‘m Jewish.

Bedrick clarified in a later tweet that before he started filming, the driver noticed a group of Chasidim and said there are too many Jews in Brooklyn. That’s why he started filming and got him to repeat what he said.
“The last 15 minutes of the trip were very quiet,” says Bedrick. “But at least I didn’t have someone punch me in the back of the head, throw a brick at me, or violently assault me, like so many Chasidim in Brooklyn have experienced lately.”

Only six minutes after Bedrick posted his video to Twitter, Uber jumped on the thread asking for Bedrick to DM them with his account details so that they could further investigate.

The driver sounds like he is south American, (spanish as a first language) I work with some Spanish speaking guys and they often say “too” much instead of “so” much, it usually just sounds a bit off and grammatically wrong, however, in this context it changes the entire meaning from a comment about there being a lot of jews around to him having a problem with that. I dont know,what else he said during the conversation but if that one line was all he said, this may have been a simple mistake and misunderstanding. I dont want to protect an anti Semite but also dont think we should hang him for a grammar mistake.
The Uber driver losing his job because a Jewish guy recorded him is going to make him love Jews even more.
My experience with foreigners has been that often, when they say “too much” they don’t mean’ too much’ (an over-abundance) as we understand it, but rather they mean ‘a’lot’. For example, if there is lots of food being served, they will say, “too much food”. Could he have just meant ‘many Jews’ rather than ‘too many Jews’?
I wouldn’t be surprised if he meant to say that there are many Jews. Latinos dont have the perfect grammar and they often times use “too much” instead of “alot” or something similar. I believe anyone familiar with the Latinos can relate. I am not convinced that he was saying it in a bad way. But maybe I’m wrong.
I just watched the video. I didn’t see anything remotely anti semitic. It looks like Jason is seeking his 15 minutes of fame.
I agree with him. There are too many Jews in Brooklyn. We shouldn’t be in Brooklyn. We should be in Eretz Yisroel with Moshiach tzidkainu.
