Groundbreaking Organization Ezras Nashim Launches 48-Hour Fundraising Campaign

When Shaindy* was taking a hot pan out of an oven one evening, the pan shifted and hot juices splattered on her chest. In serious pain in a highly sensitive area, she called out to Ezras Nashim. She was treated for 3rd degree burns and free from any additional trauma thanks to the care of female EMTs, versus other well-intentioned male care providers that would have had to treat a compromising area.

Shaindy is just one of many women who has received high-quality, professional care thanks to Ezras Nashim. When women need help, their Jewish values can make them apprehensive to call another emergency service. As desperate as they may feel, they also don’t want to add shame onto that from a man — who could also be a neighbor — seeing them in an extremely vulnerable place.

In 2014, Ezras Nashim opened its doors as a way to give these women another option in emergency situations. They have come such a long way since. In 2021, the amount of calls grew by 100% and the organization plans to double volunteer recruitment in 2023.

Currently, Ezras Nashim serves Boro Park and Flatbush, and hopes to expand to other communities as additional funding and resources are raised. They now have one ambulance and a core of 40 active volunteer EMTs.

Their future goals are to train new members so they can respond to even more calls, purchase more emergency equipment and gear for EMT responders, hire a full-time administrator to oversee the NEW ambulette transport service, fund a home base to house the emergency vehicles, hold team meetings and train EMTs, and purchase a new ambulance to expand to a wider service area.

From December 17 (Motzei Shabbat) through December 20, Ezras Nashim is fundraising for all of these goals. Please consider supporting this groundbreaking organization so they can continue to save lives.
