JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Four months after the tragic death of Rabbi Avraham Chaim Anshin after he argued with an Arab truck driver who drove off and ran him over in the process, Rabbi Anshin’s widow gave birth to a baby boy Tuesday night. The child, born an orphan, will join the eight other Anshin children who were orphaned with their father’s untimely passing.

Rabbi Anshin worked as a schoolbus driver and had recently moved from Emanuel to Beit Shemesh.

An eyewitness to Anshin’s death said that “Anshin got off his bus, sitting nearby. The truck driver arrived since he works nearby and Anshin commented to him on something, there was an argument between them and then the truck driver lost his temper, rammed into him and drove off at speed, nearly hitting another person. People threw things at him and he stopped and was arrested by police.”

Despite this, police did not deem the incident a nationalistically motivated crime.

Rabbi Anshin, a Breslav chassid, was described as a person who helped many, including transferring equipment to needy families. In order to supplement his meager income he would play clarinet at weddings.

After the horrific incident became public, there was a large public rally to raise funds for Rabbi Anshin’s family who remain without any source of income, as they were entirely dependent on their father and do not currently have any new sources of income.
