NEW YORK (VINnews) — Aron Rosner, who was found guilty of collusion with the kidnappers in the Lev Tahor 2018 abduction of two children from their home in New York, has been sentenced to time served plus one year of supervised release, with the first nine months in home confinement.

Rosner spent 34 days in jail after being arrested shortly after the crime. Despite NY Southern District judge Nelson S. Roman describing the kidnapping as “a horrific crime” and “a serious criminal scheme”, Rosner received a relatively light sentence due to a number of factors. Rosner had pleaded guilty, cooperated with the police investigators, expressed remorse and is caring for his twin boys who have Downs syndrome.

“I stand before you a very sorry and ashamed man,” Rosner told the court. “Words alone cannot express my sorrow in getting involved in those things I did.

“I want to be productive and a good member of society and always obey the law. Please give me a chance to continue to be the best father and husband I can be,” he said.

Rosner was not a member of Lev Tahor but assisted the kidnappers in a number of ways, including providing them with the financial means to pursue their kidnapping plans.

Another member of Rosner’s family, Mayer Rosner, received a 12-year sentence in April for the kidnapping but he was actually a member of the Lev Tahor cult and had not expressed any regret for his actions. Two other cult members are still in custody awaiting trial.

Prosecutors had sought a year-long jail sentence for Rosner’s “terrible, terrible crime,” arguing that he acted of his own volition and couldn’t have been brainwashed like other members of the cult.

Cult members kidnapped a 14-year-old girl and 12-year-old boy from their mother in the village of Woodridge, in upstate New York. They smuggled the children across the US border into Mexico to reunite the girl with her adult “husband,” Jacob Rosner, one of Aron Rosner’s relatives, who she had been illegally married to a year previously. The mother had fled the cult after the marriage with her three children.

What a corrupt travesty of justice! Kidnapper gets rewarded because he “wants to be productive and a good member of society.” Absolutely vile. Hope this stays out of the MSM.
