Deadly Accident Near Uman

UKRAINE – A shuttle vehicle carrying Israelis to the Ohel of Rabbi Nachman of Breslav collided with a private vehicle this morning. Unnfortunately the local driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ichud Hatzla volunteers provided aid to a 50-year-old wounded Israeli man in moderate condition and to three Israeli female passengers.

Mattis Shapira, the head of Ichud Hatzalah in Uman, arrived at the hospital to assist in translation.

During the Rebbe’s lifetime, his chasidim traveled to be with him for the Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashana, Chanuka, and Shavuos. On the last Rosh Hashana of his life, Reb Nachman stressed to his followers the importance of being with him for that holiday in particular. Therefore, after the Rebbe’s death, his followers instituted an annual pilgrimage to the Rebbe’s gravesite on Rosh Hashana – which has expanded throughout the years.
