NEW YORK (Yaakov M / VINnews) — On Friday, Forward columnist Jacob Kornbluh accused President Trump of using an antisemitic trope to raise money.

In a tweet, Kornbluh claimed that a Trump fundraising email accusing George Soros of trying to buy Joe Biden a second term, “invokes an antisemitic trope that depicts the Jewish billionaire as controlling politicians.”
He wrote a column about this as well, saying: “Trump assailed Jewish billionaire George Soros in a series of fundraising emails, accusing him of aiming to “single-handedly buy” President Joe Biden’s reelection.”
He continued, “The Hungarian-born Democratic megadonor and Holocaust survivor has long been the target of antisemitic tropes and touted as a boogeyman by the far right. Casting a Jewish individual as a puppet master who manipulates national events for malign purposes is a common antisemitic trope.”

The Jewish Democratic Council of America echoed similar sentiments on Twitter, “Just because accusing Jewish donors of buying elections has become part of Donald Trump’s regular vocabulary, it doesn’t make it any less dangerous each time he does it.”
I have a lot of respect for Mr. Kornbluh’s work. With that said, in this case he is flat out wrong, and his rhetoric may be harmful to Jews.
George Soros is a dangerous man with blood on his hands. He uses his billions to control and influence American politics, just as Trump suggested. He also happens to be Jewish. There is nothing antisemitic about accurately criticizing a Jew. Trump’s email never mentioned Soros’ religion.
In fact, as Jews, we should distance ourselves from people like Soros, rather than defend him, just as we expect peaceful Muslims to condemn radical terrorists.
Soros, called the “most dangerous man in America” by the NY Post, is a radical leftist who thrives on using money to create chaos. Soros-backed prosecutors have destroyed several of America’s biggest cities, riddling them with crime and chaos. Chicago, Philadelphia, New York City, San Francisco, St. Louis and Baltimore all have DA’s who were elected as a result of Soros funding. They have massively high crime rates. In fact, the DA in SF was so bad, he was recalled by some of the most woke leftist voters in the country.
In addition, he funds caravans of illegals from Mexico, helping them flock the southern border in droves.
The fact that Soros is Jewish is incidental. Calling someone who criticizes him an antisemite is as egregious and inaccurate as claiming that a critic of Barack Obama is racist or a critic of Ilhan Omar is Islamaphobic.
In fact, it is detrimental to our cause. As Jews, if we invoke antisemitism too frequently and when it is not warranted, the accusation loses all meaning and it becomes discarded, like the boy who cried wolf.
Trump is not an antisemite. (I know that he met with Kanye and Nick Fuentes, but other than that one blip, his record on Jews been nothing short of stellar.) His email does not even hint to Soros being a Jew.
And George Soros is evil.
Calling out Trump on this issue is reckless and it hurts Jews, at a time when we are facing historically high levels of REAL antisemitism, and we need to be extremely careful to pick our battles wisely.

To Yakov M, I don’t know what is there to respect of Kornbluh’s work? Is it the way he called the authorities to moser on shuls that were open during the Corona virus? Or maybe his work for the Forward which has for over hundred years spewed hatred to frum Jews where they organized gala’s on Kol Nidrei night.
Or his latest defense of this evil Jew hater George Soros who hides behind him being a biological Jew to avoid criticism while doing evil thigs all over the planet?
Shame on Kornbluh who will be remembered with likes of Nick Moster and Eliza Shapiro.
I can spot an antisemite when I see one. Many here use a lot of words to excuse them. I do not.
