Members of the youth’s family have called to pray for the welfare of Yisrael Ben Rachel.

The commander of the Tiberias police station, Dep. Superintendent Yigal Ben-Lulu said that “at 16:50 on Wednesday we received a report about a man who went with a kayak 300 meters from the shore and jumped into the water without a lifesaving jacket. We haven’t located him since.”

The incident occurred near the Kursi beach in the northeast region of the Kinneret lake.

Police warned that all those vacationing at the Kinneret must adhere to safety regulations:

  • Those involved in sea sports (boats, motorcycles, parasailing, surfing) must wear a lifejacket and keep a cellphone with them
  • Bathers must enter the water only at official beaches with lifesaving services and during the allotted hours.
  • Bathers should not enter the deeper areas of the Kinneret due to danger of being swept away by the subsurface currents
  • Bathers should not use inflatable mattresses or rubber tubes due to danger of subsurface currents
  • Children should only enter the water accompanied by an adult.
