Atbaryan, a fiery supporter of prime minister Netanyahu, had decided not to attend the ceremony at Nes Tziona where she was supposed to represent the state after bereaved parents had expressed objections to her presence at the cemetery.

Atbaryan spoke in tears about the current period in which the “holy, wonderful, important” chareidi community is undergoing terrible and painful incitement, and the heroism of chareidi soldiers are pushed aside and intentionally deleted from the Israeli ethos.

“This is even more painful,” she continued, “since these soldiers faced two fronts – at home they could not appear in uniform, while the secular public called them draft-dodgers. Despite this, they continued to serve the country in every possible way- both in Torah and in the battlefield.

“I stand here on this holy day and say: Thank you! Thanks to all the sectors of the chareidi public, thanks to the chareidi soldiers and to those who continue to serve in these dark days despite their community suffering huge amounts of ridicule and contempt, thanks to the chareidim who teach us a lesson on helping others, on voluntarism and helping in all possible aspects of life and a special thanks to the Torah scholars who are immersed in Torah day and night, thus preserving the eternity of the Jewish nation. You are the spiritual iron dome of Israel, you are the burning candle of the Jewish people, with every daf of gemara you study with devotion you affect the heavenly worlds and protect us here below. You are not a burden, you are not parasites, your are not the default of Israeli society. Rather you are the pillar of fire, the clouds of glory, the crown on our head. In the name of the Israeli government I wish to express my gratitude to you for all that you do for the country.”

Charadim are the real contributors to the State of Israel to insist that the state be JEWISH not just in population heritage, but also in observance, and NOT like the zionist atheists who prefer being nothing.

What percentage of the secular sit and study Torah? Probably less than 1/2 percent. Happens to be that sitting and really learning at a shtender for 10 hours a day while living under the poverty level is not something that the secular could undertake even if they tried. So yes, it is definitely fitting to call the Charedim heroes. I doubt that Yossi could sit and learn for an hour straight, let alone 4. When you first appreciate what the Charedim do, then we can have a discussion.

It says somehing that Charedi are called out as “not parasites”. Wow. In Israel yet. They are certainly not parasites, but the way they engage with the Zionist State that they’ve been praying for for 1,930 years, is problematic. Oy.
