JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In a moving Memorial Day Knesset ceremony entitled “Singing and Remembering”, Racheli Yaniv, the sister of slain brothers Hallel and Yagel HyD who were murdered in Huwara before Purim, spoke tearfully and movingly about the occasion. Racheli’s presentation drew tears even from Prime Minister Netanyahu who attended the event, as well as from her younger brother, who celebrated his Bar Mitzvah on Memorial Day.

“On this evening, I, Rachel, stand here in memory of my beloved brothers Hallel and Yagel, who were murdered and left a huge void behind them. I wish to mention that over the last two months, more siblings were murdered including the Yaakov and Asher Paley and Maya and Rina Dee and their mother Lucy.

“I never intended on Memorial Day to stand here as part of the ‘bereavement family’, a huge family which never intended to be so large, which raises its eyes to heaven imploring that the deaths of its beloved ones should not be for naught, that Am Yisrael should live a life of joy and prosperity, that hatred and murder should end in our land, that we shall unite once again as one nation, as when we are together nobody can defeat us.
“We are brothers, and despite the unfathomable price we have paid, we continue to love the country, to love the State of Israel and the IDF. It is very sad for us on this first memorial day for our loved ones, we haven’t yet digested the fact that they are gone. It is sad and very strange for me to say ‘Let their memories be blessed.’
