JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In a scathing editorial against participating in the right-wing “million” demonstration slated for Thursday evening, the Yated Neeman newspaper wrote that “whoever is chareidi- should keep clear of the demonstration.”

The editorial, entitled “What’s a kohen doing in a cemetery”, stated that “we are in favor of judicial reform and against the liberal terrorist attempt to assume dictatorial control over the nation.

“However whoever is chareidi- should keep away from there. Even if we are cooperating and going on the same path, it is not because our paths meet with their. Those who go to right-wing demonstrations are not part of our community. Not from us, period. He has lost his rights as a citizen in the house of Hashem, lost his passport. The call “are you with us or with our enemies” must reverberate. We cannot let people like this muddle our views. Kohanim have nothing to do in a cemetery,” the article concluded.

Kikar HaShabat reports that the editorial was written with the active participation of Rabbi Gershon Edelstein’s close associates.

The demonstration Thursday night will be held near the Knesset in Jerusalem. Justice Minister Yariv Levin, one of the architects of the judicial reforms, has called on the public to attend the demonstration, stating “I call on each and every one of you, I need you, we all need to go to Jerusalem and make a strong declaration for judicial reforms.”

Levin and MK Simcha Rothman, the head of the Knesset Law Committee which has been promoting the reforms, will speak at the demonstration.

יתד לא נאמן is steering the people wrong.

Instead of perpetuating Chareidi victim status and dependency, the “leadership” (who have not put their names on the editorial) should encourage participation in the democratic process. Moreover, if Chareidim and their self proclaimed mouth pieces in Yated really cared about issues that affect the Jewish tenor of the state they would enlist every able bodied person to attend . The Supreme Court has usurped the authority to decide on issues of conversion, marriage & divorce, the law of Return, separation during religious events, the draft law, not to mention military operations and policy.

If the Chareidi public wants their voices heard and VOTES COUNTED , they should support the rally and not heed the calls of a self interested newspaper and faceless Askanim.

Who made Yated the chief to give orders?

The plain-English translation of Yated’s nonsense is as follows:

1. We can support a 1-state solution, or we can support a 2-state solution.
2. We can support a left-center coalition, or we can support a right-center coalition.
3. We can support changes to the Judiciary system, or we can support leaving the judiciary system just the way it is.
4. We can support re-instating Deri, or we can support keeping Deri out of the government.

All we ask is (1) keep our sons, brothers, and fathers out of the IDF. It is the responsibility of the National Religious and the non-observant to send their children into harms way; (2) more money, please, for Kollels; and (3) more high-paying jobs for Kollel vobels so that their husbands don’t have to work.

Thank you.

So when Yated’s editorialist writes “we” in the first-person plural, he means one camp only, a camp that’s separate and disdainful of the rest of Klal Yisrael. Is that his kavana when he davens, too?

“Liberal terrorists”? And he’ll excommunicate those who rally against democracy in a country that protects his flock? Sounds desperate. And silly.

Yated represents a segment of the Litvishe tzibur. Mishpacha, who represents more of the Chasiddishe tzibbur came out in support of attending the protest. I wonder what the Yated’s position with be when it is time to protest the draft law?

The concept that the meek shall inherit the world is wrong. As we see today vast minority communities representing 2-5% of the population yell scream and demand to be heard and control the narrative. Orthodoxy needs to be heard if they want to be recognized as a vital part of the country

Unlike the Mishpacha (and VIN), the Yated has a Rabbinical Board. The Gedolim in Eretz Yisroel are in the trenches, they know what is best for their community, far more than armchair activists in the US.

Why can’t charedim go yet instead of yelling like mishagoyim, make it an asifas chizuk with tehlim? Its what we did in NYC years ago and was a huge kiddush hashem.
