Dem Councilwoman Who Refused to Vote Against Jew Hatred Gets Slammed on Twitter; Greenfield Defends

NEW YORK (VINnews) — Last week, Councilwoman Rita Joseph chose to abstain from a vote to declare April 29 “End Jew Hatred” Day. She later claimed that she regretted her decision, and only abstained because she did not have a chance to review the (extremely simple) one-page resolution.

As can be seen below, Joseph got blasted on Twitter over her absurd, lame explanation. One notable exception was David Greenfield who defended Joseph.

“Dem Councilwoman Who Refused to Vote Against Jew Hatred Gets Slammed on Twitter; Greenfield Defends”

This headline is strange; it implies that Greenfield defended her while the others condemned; in fact, his tweet defending her was only in response to her apology.

So, a better headline would be:
“Dem Councilwoman Who Refused to Vote Against Jew Hatred Gets Slammed on Twitter; Greenfield Accepts her Apology”

Let’s get to work on substantive issues the council deals with, like budget and laws, rather than getting overly worked up about feel-good symbolic declarations.

You can’t end anti-semitism by issuing a resolution againt it. That’s like trying to prevent hurricans by taking out an ad against wind.
