(Yaakov M / VINnews) — Candace Owens, an African-American conservative podcast host, appeared on a podcast last week in which she discussed her close relationship with antisemite Kanye West. She also praised Jewish conservative radio host Dennis Prager, with whom she has worked in the past.

On the ‘An0maly’ show, Owens, who works for Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire, said that Prager is “so warm and so nice, you don’t even think twice that he is Jewish.”
An antisemitism watchdog accused Owens of “spewing antisemitism.” The ‘Jewish Defense Network’ tweeted a short, out-of-context clip of the podcast which sounds pretty bad, as though she is suggesting that Jews cannot be warm and nice.

The account blasted Owens and the podcast host as antisemitic. “‘SO WARM AND NICE, YOU DON’T EVEN THINK TWICE THAT HE’S JEWISH:’ CANDACE OWENS INTERVIEWED BY ANTISEMITE // Candace Owens spewed antisemitism on a podcast with legendary jew-hater scumbag @LegendaryEnergy,” read the tweet.
However the clip was taken out of context.
If one watches the entire comment in context, Owens does not appear to be spewing antisemitism. She appeared to be contrasting Prager’s authenticity to other Jews, such as ADL leader Jonathan Greenblatt, whom she finds offensive and insincere. Were her words tasteless and offensive? That is certainly debatable. But there is no basis to presume they were antisemitic.

VIN News would like to call out the Jewish Defense Network for being disingenuous–they deliberately mutilated the clip to distort Owens’ comments.
This type of stunt only serves to delegitimize the term ‘antisemite’ and discredit those of us who try to legitimately fight true hatred and antisemitism.
As Jews, we should be above cheap dirty tricks. These are tactics used by leftists and political hacks, who chop up soundbites in order to depict their enemies in a distorted way.
Abusing the term antisemite and editing videos to mislead people is not beneficial to our cause. Sadly, there are plenty of examples of real antisemitism, and no need to fabricate new ones.
To be clear, we do not want to be in a position of defending Owens. We do not condone her support for Kanye. We have slammed her repeatedly in the past, and are deeply disappointed at her attempts to defend him and whitewash his words and pretend he is not an antisemite.
Owens is not a friend of the Jews. However she still deserves to have her words represented fairly.

The Jewish defense network needs to be called out on the carpet for misrepresenting what was said and pulling it out of context so that no one understands the exact meaning of what was going on. The Jewish defense network is neither Jewish, nor are they in defense of the Jews. They are leftist organization that likes to jump up and down in order to be heard every so often. I think there’s a bigger issue here. If you don’t know that Prager is Jewish, it’s because HES hiding it. We need to be proud of who we are. I want everyone who meets to know I’m Jewish, know that I’m proud of it.
