As previously reported on VIN News, the 40 year old Chesed Shel Emes member was found fatally shot in his car in a North Miami Beach parking lot on the morning of February 19th.

Jacksonville resident Louis Antuwn Redmon was arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 5:38 PM on May 17th on charges of murder in the first degree, armed robbery, armed carjacking and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

Chesed Shel Emes director and police chaplain Mark Rosenberg said that numerous agencies were involved in the three month long investigation that culminated in Redmon’s arrest.

Those agencies include the North Miami Beach Police Department, Miami Dade Police Department, Florida Deparment of Law Enforcement, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service and Miami Dade State Attorney’s Office, which issued the arrest warrant and will be prosecuting Redmon.

The 23 year old Redmon is no stranger to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

He was previously jailed for three months in early 2019 for stealing a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and attempting to elude an officer at a high rate of speed and/or disregard for safety.

He was imprisoned a second time just four and a half months later for four months for unspecified grand theft, possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted Florida felon, carrying a concealed firearm, use/possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use, resisting an officer without violence and violation of probation or community control.

The North Miami Police Department will be holding a press conference at 4:30 this afternoon to provide details on the case.

Rosenberg notified Schwartz’s family of the arrest and met with his bride to be in Florida, telling them all that Hershy had a reputation among his peers as someone who would be willing to take a bullet to save another, something he likely did on the night he died.

“Hershy always looked out for others and he devoted his entire life to saving others,” Rosenberg told VIN News. “Now that we know the identity of the killer and what he has done before, we can finally obtain justice for Hershy.”

Not that it helps to any significant amount to bring Heshy z”l back and his poor Kallah is still grieving beyond description, I’m just curious if a motive has been revealed!
