Bnei Brak Resident Stabbed, Lightly Injured By 14-Year-Old Jenin Terrorist

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — A 28-year-old chareidi resident of Bnei Brak was lightly injured after he was stabbed in the arm by a 14-year-old Arab youth from Jenin while walking to shul Monday night in the Kiryat Herzog neighborhood.

The Arab youth was arrested after a chase involving the patrol crew of the Dan motorcycle unit who came swiftly and detained him.

United Hatzalah medics arriving on scene provided initial treatment for the injured man, who was then taken to Maayanei Hayeshua hospital and released later from the hospital.

The injured Avreich later described what happened: “The attacker came towards me, I didn’t have any previous acquaintance with him, I thought he intended to hit me or punch me. After he ran away I realized that I was stabbed in the arm, so I cried out ‘He stabbed me, he stabbed me’ and immediately called police. The Hatzalah members who were in the area transferred me to the hospital.”

The police unit which arrested the terrorist transferred him for interrogation. He will also be interrogated by the Shin Bet. The terrorist’s father and brother were also arrested after the attack, as well as another member of the family found near the scene who is suspected of aiding the terrorist. Police chief Yaakov Shabtai said that the terrorist had confessed that he perpetrated the attack due to the current IDF operation going on in Jenin.

Yaakov Wieder, a member of the Bnei Brak City Council, said that “We are all praying for the speedy recovery of the injured man. In Bnei Brak there are hundreds of people who are illegal residents from Judea and Samaria. Despite repeated warnings, not enough is being done to prevent the phenomenon. This [attack] is a wake-up call to police and local crews: Instead of dealing with parking tickets- remove all illegal residents.”
