JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The IDF continued Monday night to operate in the Jenin refugee camp, performing house-to-house searches for weapons and explosive devices.

The commando units worked in coordination with the Menashe regional brigade, the Haruv commandos, paratroop commandos and members of the elite Yahalam engineering unit. Other units operating in the camp included the dog unit, Golani commandos, Nahal commandos, border police and the Shin Bet.
The IDF units surrounded a central structure in the camp, maintaining pressure until the terrorists inside surrendered. Explosives found in the structure were blown up. The IDF located a number of command posts and confiscated equipment.

IDF blows up command post of Jenin terrorists
The IDF will continue to operate Tuesday based on intelligence information about ten locations which provide infrastructure for terrorist activity including weapons stockrooms, manufacturing equipment and command posts.
During the course of the operation 10 terrorists have been eliminated and about 100 people injured. The IDF stressed that all of those eliminated were involved in terror activity but some of the injured were non-combatants.

During the course of the night some 3000 Palestinians fled the Jenin refugee camp. The IDF spokesperson said that the IDF allowed them to leave and added that contrary to reports, they left of their own accord and were not evicted by the IDF.
The spokesperson added regarding the conclusion of the operation that “We will finish all the goals we need to check and ascertain that we haven’t missed any. We arrived with information about 300 armed terrorists and intelligence information about 160 of them. So far we have arrested nearly 120 of them. We will complete our goals and then decide about concluding the operation.”
