JERUSALEM (VINnews) — A stabbing incident in the southern Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo on Thursday evening has been identified as a terrorist attack, after the three perpetrators were apprehended Friday night. Police were initially unclear on whether it was a terrorist attack or a criminally motivated act.

The terrorists attacked a 25-year-old Jewish man, Ohr Sayar-Weiner, stabbing him 20 times and seriously injuring him. He was taken to Shaare Tzedek hospital and underwent surgery. On Shabbat, Ohr, a chemistry and biology student at Hebrew University, woke up and communicated with his family and is now in serious but stable condition.
The three terrorists, aged 17, 18 and 19, are residents of Bethlehem. In the past one of them was arrested in Israel while residing illegally and carrying a knife. The terrorist said that he intended on perpetrating a stabbing attack and was sentenced by an Israeli court to four months in jail.
