BROOKLYN – Two teens are being sought by the NYPD in connection with an attack on an Orthodox Jewish man that took place this week in Borough Park’s.

Police said that the incident took place at approximately 7:20 PM on August 16th when two young adults, estimated to be in their late teens to their early 20s, were riding along 18th Avenue on an electric scooter.
The scooter’s passenger disembarked in front of Landau’s Supermarket on 18th Avenue at 45th Street and approached a 49 year old Chasidic man dressed in traditional attire as he was looking at his cellphone, making an unknown statement before knocking the Chasidic man’s yarmulke to the ground.
The attacker then got back onto the scooter, which left the scene, heading north on 18th Avenue towards 46th Street.
The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident, which is being classified as aggravated harassment/hate crime and is asking for the public’s help in locating the two young adults. Both are described as having medium complexions and thin builds.
The scooter’s passenger was wearing a grey Hollister logo tee shirt, black shorts, dark colored sneakers and a grey and white backpack with a shark teeth motif, while its ponytailed driver was wearing a dark grey tee shirt, black shorts, light blue sneakers and a purple baseball cap.
A second incident similar incident reportedly took place one day later in Williamsburg, with Willamsburg News tweeting that two unknown individuals on a bike assaulted two Jewish people in front of W Fresh Supermarket on Wallabout Street, with another Jewish person attacked on Walton Street and Wallabout Street. Police were unaware of the second incident and could not say if the two were related.
