According to a post on its official Facebook page, Dougie’s BBQ & Grill’s final day of operation was last Thursday. The move, which surprised many in the Baltimore community, came after the restaurant has served the local frum community for over 12 years.

    The final announcement said:

To Loyal Dougies Customers, Patrons and Fans

It is difficult and unfortunate to write this, but after 12+ wonderful years in the amazing Baltimore Community we are saddened to announce that, due to circumstances beyond our control, Dougies BBQ and Grill will be closing its doors as 10 PM Thursday 09/21/23.

For all of you who would like to get you last licks of the food you have enjoyed for over a decade, please come on by until closing tonight for one last Hurrah.

We have truly enjoyed bringing you the foods you enjoy and serving this wonderful community.
You never know – we may see you all again soon!!

“I guess Bidenomics have claimed another business, i’m going to really miss the fire poppers ” an anonymous patron told VINnews.

“Hard to believe. Dougie’s was one of the best things to happen to Baltimore. Such good food (the burgers!), the atmosphere (who remembers Brian Hoffman and his singing?)…Oy Thank you for the warm memories and delicious food. We will miss you.” a patron wrote on the restaurant’s final Facebook post.

Dougie’s BBQ and Grill franchise has multiple locations, many in the New York region. It revolutionized the kosher food industry in the 1990’s, when the original Dougie’s opened in Manhattan. Its delicious ribs, poppers, exclusive sauces, blooming onion, and many other iconic menu items, introduced a new level of sophistication to the Jewish community, and many other restaurants have mimicked Dougie’s in the past several decades.

Even after reading this article, we still do not know WHY Dougie’s Kosher Grill in Baltimore closed down. We can only guess, and I hate guessing.

What in the world does “Bidenomics” have to do with it? Restaurants go out of business all the time, for all kinds of reasons. It is by its nature a very risky business with a huge failure rate. If your car breaks down or it rains when you want to go on a picnic, will you blame that on Biden or “Bidenomics” also?

If they truly felt so bad that they closed on us in an instant without any inkling or PSA of a future closing date, THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMERS THAT KEPT THEM IN BUSINESS ALL THESE YEARS, AND REFERRED THEM TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY VISITING FROM OUT OF TOWN, DESERVE AN EXPLANATION! Sounds more like the FBI came in and said as of tomorrow morning you are officially closed for business.
