CJV President Rabbi Yoel Schonfeld and CJV-Israel Chairman Rabbi Steven Pruzansky jointly issued the following statement:

Such disrespect for visitors—such contempt for other people of faith—is a gross violation of the honor Jews are bound to show for all human beings. This behavior exhibits a lack of true Torah education. All Jews, religious and secular, must treat all people with the dignity and respect they deserve, and not use differences of worldview to justify hateful acts.

Well, landed in Israel an hour ago, plenty of goyim, some Christian. I managed to neither spit nor accost them, they didn’t bother me and went our separate ways. Spitting is definitely not going to turn someone into a Ben Noach.

We have to treat people with respect but Bnei Noach are also forbidden to idolatry. Was this an idolatrous sect? idolatry does not belong in Eretz Yisroel. Eretz Yisroel has to treat Bnai Noach with respect by teaching them the sheva mitzvos and seeing to it that bnai Noach are respected by having their 7 commandments, and all of their details, in force.

This values coalition are aligned with the right wing evangelical groups that visit Israel. They care more about right wing politics than Torah.

Why are American Rabbis commenting on this? It is an issue in Israel. It will only be meaningful if Rabbonim in Israel says something.

All 2500 rabbis signed on this? I don’t agree that spitting is right or correct. A coalition of 2500 rabbis? This is the only issue they care about?

Rambam says idol worship, which he says includes Christianity, must be eradicated, especially in Eretz Yisroel.
