TALLAHASSEE FL – Speaking in front of a group of 100 Florida legislators, FL Representative Randy Fine (R-33) spoke powerfully about how he and others are haunted by the terror attacks in Israel, the latest incident in a centuries-long legacy of persecution that has been the reality of the Jewish people.

Fine, who represents Brevard County in Central Florida and is Jewish, spoke on October 18th about how he has had difficulty sleeping since the October 7th massacre in Southern Israel. Wearing a red, white, and blue yarmulka on his head, Fine told his fellow legislators that their Jewish constituents feel unsafe in their own homes.

"We have to face a truth that many of us have refused to for too long. We are not one giant human family. There are monsters among us."
Today, I gave the most important speech of my career before 100 FL legislators. We stand with #Israel. TY @Paul_Renner @Kathleen4SWFL. pic.twitter.com/HcB9ujDKKP

Fine shared the story of how his grandmother survived a murderous knife attack in Russia more than 100 years ago, her three year old body shielded by those of her parents and older siblings, most of whom were slaughtered by those who hated Jews. He described her story as being part of a pattern that has continued for generations and shows no signs of abating.
“The armies of darkness have tried to exterminate my people since time immemorial,” said Fine, who categorized the attack on Israeli citizens as the continuation of the Holocaust.
“The Holocaust never ended,” said Fine. “It just went into hibernation.”
Just two weeks ago, Fine had what he described as an “unsettling” encounter with a member of an anti-Jewish extremist group during an event in Cocoa, reported Florida Today (www.bit.ly/3PXpk8S). Fine said that the man, who identified himself as a member of the Goyim Defense League, began spouting anti-Semitic messages and grew angry when he refused to engage in a verbal debate.
Fine made it clear to his fellow legislators that it isn’t only have Jews who have reason to be fearful of terrorist attacks.
“There is a slogan in radical Islam that terrorists sometime use today – Today, we come for the Saturday people. Tomorrow we come for the Sunday people,” said Fine, adding, “We celebrate the Sabbath on Sunday. Maybe one of you can tell me who celebrates it on Sunday”
