At a press briefing Monday, Miller said, “I’m surprised I don’t hear people asking – why does Hamas not lay down its arms? Move out of schools and take additional steps to protect civilians?”
Hats off to @StateDeptSpox for smacking down this reporter who argued that Hamas isn’t able to surrender because it “isn’t a military.”pic.twitter.com/LLqnW4rZtW

A reporter who Miller referred to as “Sayeed” asked, “So you are asking Hams to surrender?”
Miller replied that the US would welcome Hamas laying down its arms.
The reporter replied, “Hamas is not an army, they don’t have airports, they don’t have a Navy or artillery…they don’t have any structure to conduct their surrender.”
Miller pushed back hard, and when the reporter tried to interrupt, he said “No no no, let me finish…”
Miller became visibly frustrated and said: They may not have an air force, they have sufficient firepower to have killed 1,200 people on October 7th. So don’t tell me Hamas can’t lay down their arms and take additional steps to protect civilians, let alone moving out of all the areas that are putting Palestinian civilians in harm’s way.”
The clip concludes: “They could do it today if they cared at all about civilian lives.”
The structure to surrender??!!
Here’s an idea: Walk out with a white flag & give yourself up. What kind of “structure” do you need????
Is that “reporter” a spokesman for terrorist hamas? If so his credentials should be removed immediately.
What an idiotic question! Do you need an army structure to surrender?????
How does a Hamas spokesperson get White House Press credentials?
Hamas IS an army and they can surrender if they wanted to – but what would that mean in practice? There is no government other than Hamas, or PLO, whose whole goal for 70 years has been war with Israel. Even if Chas VeShalom they were able to take over the entire state of Israel – they still would not be able to run anything as they dont know of anything else. All they know is war. Their little land of Gaza is now in ruins, have no government and have grown up all their lives being taught to fight against their “occupiers”. Do you want Israel to be their occupiers – governing them? No Israeli wants to stay their permanently to oversee them, continue to be attacked by them and their terrorist mindsets, and do not want to worry if their son/father/brother/husband will return home after their shift. they could stop the war, but it would also mean giving up their whole life meaning, which they are not going to do. They will fight until the end.
Yep, It is possible Hamas no longer can centrally control its fighters. Their command structure is probably destroyed. If their command structure is not destroyed, why isn’t it? We have had over a month.
