IDF Names Six Soldiers Killed In Battle, One In Road Accident

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — BDE: The IDF has announced the tragic loss of seven soldiers, six of whom were killed in battle in the Gaza strip and one who died in a military road accident. Five of the soldiers belonged to the 8111 battalion, a reserve foot battalion, and were killed from a booby-trapped tunnel which exploded in Khan Younis.

Sergeant-Major (Res.) Gidon Ilani, a 35-year-old father of six from Assa’el in the southern Hevron region, fell in northern Gaza. A doctoral candidate in astrophysics, Ilani had moved from Sderot two years ago. He is survived by his wife Esti and his children Geffen, Maayan, Hallel, Noam, David and Yael.

His friend and neighbor Dr. Uri Adler described him as “always holding a Gemara or Rambam despite the demands of home life and work, I always found him like that in the garden with his children, always relaxed and cheerful. He was an amazing neighbor for the entire community, always willing to help even late at night.”

Sergeant-Major Itai Peri (36) from Modi’in, was killed in southern Gaza. He is survived by his wife Hila and children. In a picture released by the IDf spokesman he is holding a picture from his son, who wrote: “I love you, I miss you. Daddy, I hope you won’t get injured.”

Captain (Res.) Evyatar Cohen (42) from Kfar Saba, was killed in southern Gaza. He is survived by a wife and four children.

Major Gal Bachar, a 34-year-old from Oranit, was killed in a military road accident in the south. He is survived by his wife Lior, also a career army officer, and two children.

Sergeant-Major Ari Yechiel Zenilman (32) from Mitzpeh Nevo in Maale Adumim. Zenilman, a graduate of Har Etzion yeshiva, had a daughter born just before Oct. 7th, but had only spent one Shabbat with her.
