Former Prison Service Commander: Sinwar Will Surrender, He’s A Coward

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — A former Shin Bet operative spoke on Israel’s channel 14 and described Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar as a “coward” who would surrender and go to Israeli jail again, convinced that once again he will be released in a prisoner exchange deal, rather than fighting to his death.

Deputy Warden Betty Lahat said that Sinwar doesn’t want to die and will surrender. “He doesn’t care about the stacks of bodies in Gaza, the menorahs and flags and Israeli soldiers in his former positions of power are eating him up.” She said that his brother was involved in kidnapping Gilad Shalit in 2006 and Sinwar himself was involved in preparing the lists of those who were to be released in the Shalit deal. On the list were 41 terrorists involved in the murder of 571 Jews.

Lahat added that the current efforts by various Israelis to try and crown Marwan Barghouti as the next leader of the Palestinian Authority after Abu Mazen are mistaken, since he is “a worse terrorist [than Abu Mazen].” She said that she had refused permission to politicians who wanted to visit Barghouti and had been under special guard for a period due to death threats from Barghouti’s henchmen.

Lahat also said that there are hardly any “uninvolved civilians.” She said that her daughter was sick with cancer and was treated at Schneider hospital together with a Gazan child. She said he received presents and care together with all the children. Later she met the same child as a terrorist brought in after actions against the IDF- still with the scar from the operation. She asked him how he could act in such a way after receiving such treatment and he merely said: “That’s how it is.”

Much as Sinwar yimach shmo might want to live, the chances if him being taken alive are slim. And in the event that he is, he will never be released because Israel learned a thing or two about the toxicity of prisoner exchanges…
