Former Arab-Israeli MK Lauds Oct. 7th As ‘Historic Day For Palestinians, Qualitative Process’

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Niven Abu Rahmoun is an Israeli Arab politician who served as a member of the Knesset for the Joint Arab List between 2018 and 2019. That experience of Israeli democracy may not have made her a Zionist, but should have at least taught her that Arabs in Israel are treated better than any of their compatriots in neighboring countries, and should have a vested interest in Israel’s survival.

Yet Abu Rahmoun is a member of the infamous Balad party which has produced a series of anti-Israel agitators including Azmi Bishara who spied for Hezbollah and defected to Qatar after Israel tried to arrest him. Not to be outdone, Abu Rahmoun interviewed on the pro-Hezbollah’s Al Mayadeen channel on October 7th and gushed with excitement over the brutal Hamas attacks on Israel.

At a time when Israeli women and children were being raped, murdered and mutilated by Hamas terrorists, Abu Rahmoun calmly spoke of a “new reality” of the “Al-Aqsa flood” which changes the political situation.

“The Palestinian resistance has initiated a qualitative process and a new strategy,” Abu Rahmoun crowed on October 7th, “involving infiltration, hang gliding and clash points with patrols inside the state of Israel. This resistance forces the conquering force (Israel) to declare a state of war. From beleaguered Gaza it triumphs and restores its sovereignty over its borders, doing this for all of our Palestinian people.”

It is almost mind-boggling to imagine a former elected representative of the Knesset speaking in this treasonous manner, yet Abu Rahmoun goes on to call October 7th “A historic day for the Palestinian people, a different scene for the conquerers.”

She even sets out and embraces the Hamas plan to deepen its attacks: “It is important to note that the attacks are not just the infiltrations and kidnappings, but also build an attack capability for resistance deeper in the conquered regions, which could involved ground activities for days or even weeks.” [She doesn’t mean Israeli activities, but rather Hamas terrorist incursions!].

Abu Rahmoun blames the “crimes of the conquerors, those who try to Judaize, the settlers and [predictably] the entry into Al-Aqsa mosque.

Not stopping to condemn any crimes of Hamas, Abu Rahmoun says that the entries to the “settlements” in the Gaza envelope and the “clashes” there demonstrate “the weakness of Israel, the conquerors and the political muddle they are in.”

In any normal country, traitors in a time of war are tried, convicted and executed without clemency, but somehow Abu Rahmoun is still walking the streets of her village in Israel, enjoying her democratic freedoms and dreaming of a Hamas-occupied Palestine. Fortunately her sentiments are not shared by a majority of Israeli Arabs but a recent worrying poll found that 33% of Arab Israelis saw the Oct. 7 massacre as in tune with Islamic values.

It behooves the government of Israel to at least arrest and convict the erstwhile member of Knesset for her inciteful remarks [The Ad Kan organization has filed a request for this] even if they were made in Arabic on the television channel of the enemy.
