ISRAEL (VINnews) — PM Binyamin Netanyahu is reportedly furious over a “plague of leaks” in his war cabinet, and wants to subject officials to lie detector tests.

Netanyahu proposed a new law stating that cabinet members and high ranking officials attending meetings about national security issues must be compelled to undergo polygraph tests, because too many sensitive details of government deliberations are being shared with the press.

“We have a plague of leaks and I am not willing to continue like this, which is why I directed the promotion of a law that everyone who sits in cabinets and security discussions, including the political and professional ranks – will undergo a polygraph,” Netanyahu said during Sunday’s cabinet meeting, according to Channel 12.

The comments come after widespread media coverage of how a meeting called to deal with postwar Gaza ended in chaos last Thursday, erupting into a loud and angry dispute between cabinet members and the top IDF leadership.

According to some reports several ministers had it out with IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi.

Hebrew reports said Netanyahu ended the meeting after three hours amid a shouting match over the progress in the war.

The development came after Halevi announced his intention to form a commission to investigate the failures leading up to and during Hamas’s massacre of 1,200 people in Israel on Oct. 7.

Some ministers were particularly outraged with Halevi’s reported decision to appoint former chief of staff and defense minister Shaul Mofaz to the panel, due to his role in the 2005 pullout from Gaza.

I would have thought he had more important things to worry about at the moment.
