ISRAEL (VINnews) — Rabbi Yitzchak Zilberstein said in a shmooze this past Shabbos that the current lack of rain is due to our failure to recognize the amazing miracles taking place in Israel.

As reported by Arutz Sheva, the son-in-law of Rav Elyashiv, and one of the Gedolei Poskim in Israel, said: “Hashem brings clouds, and even non-experts recognize that the dark clouds are full of water, but only a few drops fall on us l’maaseh, and do not compensate for the lack.”
“People want to know what needs to be improved.”
He continued, “…how many missiles and shells are fired toward Eretz Yisrael, and almost none of them hit people. A little here, a little there, but of the tens of thousands of missiles and weapons of destruction that have infiltrated Israel, [very few] people suffered fatal injuries, and the financial damage is minor.”
“This is an…amazing miracle!
“…remember the Gulf War, Saddam Hussein fired dozens of missiles into Eretz Yisrael, and not a single one hurt anyone …. So much so that people started to think maybe those missiles were made of paper … and unable to cause harm.”
“Until one missile was fired at a US military camp and killed 28 US soldiers! So then we understood – that these are very deadly missiles, and through the kindness of Hashem, miracle of miracles, none of the Jews in Eretz Yisrael were hurt.”
Rabbi Zilberstein applied the lesson to the current situation, saying: “When we do not thank Hashem for the miracles that He does for us, Hashem does not continue His chain of kindness, and does not bring down rain for us.”
A revered Gadol and leading Posek, Rabbi Zilberstein is the Av Bais Din of the Ramat Elchanan neighborhood of Bnei Brak, the Rosh Kollel of Kollel Bais David in Cholon, and the Rav of Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center.
