On Monday, Channel 12’s intrepid reporter Nitzan Shapira ventured to the front line in the center of the Gaza strip in order to record an interview with Amedi, who was surprised to find him inside a tunnel where Amedi was operating. He gave a message, stating that “Am Yisrael Chai! We’re working hard here for the security of our nation, we love you all.” Amedi explained that they had found “kilometers of tunnels, large amounts of special ammunition, and we are involved in destroying it.”

Just a short time after recording the interview, Amedi was badly injured in a combat incident and flown to hospital with shrapnel in numerous parts of his body. After undergoing an operation, Amedi is described as out of danger but still in serious condition.
