They will spend the night in the gymnasium before returning on Wednesday morning, officials said.

“The health and safety of migrants in our care is always a top priority, which is why we are currently overseeing the relocation of 1,900 guests from the humanitarian emergency response and relief center at Floyd Bennett Field due to an updated forecast with increased wind speeds estimated to be at over 70 MPH tonight,” a City Hall spokesperson said in a statement.

The FJCC released the following statement:

Migrants at Madison High School-

NYC has announced that due to an impending rain and wind storm, the city plans to temporarily move migrants from Floyd Bennett Field to Madison High School at 3787 Bedford Ave. bet. Ave. P and Quentin Rd.

The FJCC has been in communication with the Mayor’s office, OEM (Office of Emergency Management), the NYPD and elected officials to ascertain the facts and ensure our community stays safe.

Facts and details:

1- Due to the incoming storm with expected winds over 60 mph, as a precautionary measure, the city will bus the migrants starting after school is out, around 4 PM today, Tuesday, to Madison High School.

2- As soon as the winds subside, estimated around 5 AM tomorrow, the migrants will be bussed back to Floyd Bennett Field. The school staff will then clean and prepare for the students to attend classes as usual.

3- Madison High School security, along with the security staff at Floyd Bennett, will monitor and secure the area while they are present.

4- The City is confident that NYPD working in conjunction with the private security vendor and school security they will be able to handle this emergency situation. Flatbush Shomrim will be available to assist as needed.

5- If you see something, say something: Call 911 and Flatbush Shomrim at 718-338-9797 with any security concerns.

Councilwoman Inna Vernikov released the following email:

I have been informed that due to the incoming storm affecting New York City, around 2,000 migrants from Floyd Bennett field will be transported to James Madison High School this evening and will be occupying its gymnasiums and auditorium overnight.

This is both unacceptable and was entirely foreseeable, as Floyd Bennett Field is vulnerable to all forms of inclement weather conditions and is not a sustainable housing facility. This emergency move was accurately predicted by critics of the Floyd Bennett field as a location to be used as a migrant shelter.

Our public schools are meant to be places of learning and growth for our children, and were never intended to be shelters or facilities for emergency housing.

There are approximately 4,000 students who attend Madison High School. Their parents are rightfully concerned. Our constituents who live in the vicinity are concerned for their safety and well-being. This will agitate local residents, disrupt the entire school environment, and place a tremendous burden on our families, students, school administrators and staff.

As an elected official representing this community, I demand a full stop to using our public schools as a shelter ever again. I urge my colleagues in government to join me in this effort.

We will continue to monitor this situation, and hold those responsible for this move accountable.

The more important thing, is to keep these illegal bums out of Floyd Bennett Field. I frequent the park, and these ugly creatures riun the peaceful setting to once provided. Shame on Kathy Hochul and Eric Adams! Put them in Gracie Mansion. There is plenty of space in that vacant taxpayer funded building.

Be kind. The goyim did not want us in their neighborhoods 120 years ago either. We should help these people and their children in trouble, not oppress them.

You people have to get a grip and pop out of the Trump bubble. Latinos don’t commit more crimes than any other immigrants. Look at our goyta’s. Most are hardworking and responsible. They run our grocery stories, do construction and all the jobs we don’t want to do. Maybe Ill put it his way, if you look at the crimes jews commited when immigrants or children of as Bugsy segal and Arnold Rothstein were known for, we were no saints. And I bet Latinos aren’t worse. What ahppend to some pity? If this were jews would you say the same? Lest you argue Ok let them in my house (i do let them in as painters, handymen and cleaning help but OK) tha’s a silly argument. I am frum and don’t really open my doors to nay non jews whether whioe american or Latinos. If they were say frum Latinos, I’d open my doors wide. And so its a mute point.

These people are not illegally in the USA. They are given a Court Appearance Ticket by ICE, when their case for Humanitarian Parole will be heard in Court. The governors of Texas and Florida actually helped to put them on the path for a Visa, Social Security card, Work Permit, TPS and Asylum. Then they can become Citizens and Dem voters! Thank you governors!

They are seeking a better life.
I guarantee u, that if UN were to build in their countries of origin a good infrastructure, health, education, job training improve their roads and schools and hospitals to a nice standard of living, they’d have no desire to come to USA
they feel forced into it.. they feel they simply have no choice.
The national leaders have caused this
