The Jan. 1 call, obtained by CBS News, reveals that Austin’s staff asked the dispatcher to keep the ambulance presence “a little subtle” as Austinwas taken to the hospital.

“I’m requesting an ambulance to be taken [redacted],” the caller tells the dispatcher.

“Can I ask that, can the ambulance not show up with lights and sirens? We’re trying to remain a little subtle,” the caller adds.

Much of the call is redacted, including the caller’s name, Austin’s symptoms and Austin’s name.

When both Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan had to undergo surgery for cancer, the news was released to the public well in advance. The same was true for other recent Presidents. The entire way that this matter has been handled, where nobody knew what was going on, is despicable.
