JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The Gerer chasidim issued a special pamphlet to the children in their chasidic group warning of the perils of technology, according to a report by B’Chadrei Charedim. The pamphlet is dedicated to the memory of David Schwartz, a soldier who fell in Gaza and had a close affinity to Gur, attending many of their events and shiurim.

The pamphlet includes a list of regulations for the children as well as pictorial explanations of how children should eschew technological devices. The children are advised that this is not just a good attribute but rather a halachic requirement, as the Yetzer Hara is trying in many ways to make us sin including via advanced technology.

Technology is described as akin to a “biting dog and venomous snake” and children are warned not to touch screens in shops and clinics and even the donation tablets in shuls.

Gur regulations for children

Even the Delta devices which Gur uses to filter should not be used by children and even Waze should not be employed by them. The children are told that if a person sits next to them on a bus with such a device they should move to another place.

Another regulation prohibits bringing to the Cheider any work done on a computer, as well as any information received from a computer. The children are advised not to use cellphones out of their house or to own MP3 players of their own.

It’s shameful to see how many people bash Gur for trying to protect the innocence of their children. Why don’t they check their internet history at home and see how many of their children are swimming in a cesspool of explicit content.

I always got nervous from this type of rhetoric. Until I joined telegram. The amount of filth over there is unimaginable. There are “heimishe” chats of shomer shabbos frum yeshivishe men, discussing the dirtiest of the dirty. I am still processing this concept. I don’t know what the answer is, it might not be the above restrictions. But there’s a dark world out there.

Even though I’m a hypocrite because I’m leaving this comment using a smartphone I couldn’t agree more. Technology is a double headed snake it will bite you in the front and it will bite you from the back

Its the simple addiction to technology that they are trying to avoid and instill in the children a better life.
Maybe it doesnt apply to you, but these are just some question food for thought:
How many times a day do you check VIN news?
What is the first thing you look at?
Why are you reading the comments?
Why are you interested in the number of likes?

Attention all you naysayers, this was meant for them and not for you. If you have das torah who says go ahead and use it, then go ahead and use it. You want to use it with filters, use it with filters. Just stop making nasty comments about people who are trying to do things and to try to control what, if you were really honest with yourself, is truly a major yezer hora.

So how will my son bring the health records from his doctor, it is from a computer, how will the office keep track of the tuition, how was this pamphlet generated, on a computer. Went too far and hypocritical that’s why it won’t work. Naive.

Show me the job, any job, that doesn’t use technology in the workplace. Okay, maybe cobblers don’t use tech to repair shoes.

Does anyone know that in Ger to have relations with your own wife you need permission from some appointed Madrich. Think I am nuts, do some digging.
That make a lot of sense – no?? The letter the yingerleit gets- says do not care for your wife, your holiness comes first. Which Torah do thay keep?

Right now they have Thousands of children jumping up and down by a Rebbes wedding. Once these kids start, listening to, and appreciating other Roshei Yeshivos from a different Chasidus or from YU or Touro, they will no longer be jumping up and down.
