A homeless man threw a significant amount of trash at the Horowitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza on the Ben Franklin Parkway Tuesday, just days after a vandal drew a large swastika next to the building.

Authorities say a man carrying bags of trash had dumped a significant amount garbage on the memorial.

Eszter Kutas, executive director of the Holocaust Remembrance Foundation, was quoted by Action News with the following statement:

“We are sad to confirm another incident of vandalism at the Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza that took place yesterday (Tuesday) around 11 am. An individual emptied several trash cans at the Memorial Plaza.”

On Sunday, a swastika was found spray-painted on a building adjacent to the memorial, which is dedicated to remembering victims of the Holocaust and educating others.

Ms. Kutas said that the two incidents do not appear to be related. “I don’t see a direct connection between the two, unless we think about the larger…context in which we see rising antisemitism affecting the American community,” she said.
