In addition, two reservists were seriously injured in the incident in which Silverman fell.

Another reservist from the 466th battalion was also seriously injured in battle in the central Gaza Strip. The injured were transferred to hospitals in Israel for treatment.

Uriel graduated from yeshiva high school and studied at Yeshivat Itamar in Samaria for two years before joining the tank corps in a hesder yeshiva program and then returning to his studies. After completing his studies he learnt in the Lev Tel Aviv yeshiva.

Rabbi Eliyahu Izak, one of Uriel’s teachers said that he “had great love of Torah, and went through a process while in our yeshiva, as he realized that the Torah and holy pursuits are the central function in life, it entered his soul and changed it.

“This is the process  of one who came from yeshiva high school and wasn’t always at this level, he had love of Torah, admired the gedolim and saw Torah as the central aspect of his life, of the Jewish people and of the entire world.”

Rabbi Izak added that Uriel had a warm heart and always volunteered to do everything required without any fanfare.

A few months before the war he had completed his regular army service  and after October 7th asked to join a reserve unit. First he was sent to Judea and Samaria and then he requested to be transferred to Gaza.

May his blood be avenged.
