A  Wall Street Journal report claimed Sunday that Israeli forces have killed 20% to 30% of Hamas’s fighters. The report is based on the Israeli estimates of 9,000 Hamas terrorists killed besides more than 1,000 who were eliminated in the initial attacks on October 7th.

The US estimated that Hamas had between 25,000 and 30,000 terrorists before the war in addition to thousands of police and other forces. According to the US report, Hamas still holds munitions capable of striking Israel and IDF forces for months, and is attempting to reestablish some control in Northern Gaza. Over the weekend there were four incidents in which IDF forces intervened in Gaza’s neighborhoods to prevent terrorists from relocating there.

Israel and the US differ over how many terrorists have been wounded and taken out of action. Israel believes that some 16,000 Hamas terrorists were injured and half of these would not be able to return to the battlefield. The US maintains that only 10-11 thousand were injured and most could still return to battle in the future.

During this period the IDF had reported 530 soldiers killed in action, 198 of them since the beginning of the offensive maneuvers in Gaza.

Keep going, the last 20% will run away. It took years for Hamas to build up at this capacity. Hamas can’t rebuild, resupply, and recruit at the rate the IDF is going.

Hopefully if they accepted those numbers then they will be happy at the ratio of militants killed compared to the “civilians” at about 1:3.

Despite US estimates in hamas capabilities, biden still wants Israel to end the war and free hamas prisoners in exchange for the eventual release of the hostages.
