Born on Oct. 1st 1909 to Archie Sinnanberg and Annie Gerson, Polish and Russian immigrants, Pearl initially lived in Evansville, Indiana and was then raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Depression ended her father’s career in the automobile business, prompting the family to search for a new beginning elsewhere. They moved to Los Angeles and about a week later, Berg met her future husband, Mark Berg, a Ukrainian immigrant.
The couple married in 1931 and later had two children, Dr. Alan Paul Berg and Robert Joel Berg. Her husband died in 1989 after 58 years of marriage.
Berg’s husband, Mark, was the general manager of his family business, Berg Metals, and later started other companies of which he was the minority shareholder.
“She maybe had a sip of Sabbath wine but she didn’t drink, she didn’t smoke, she ate sensibly, she had good emotional balance and she clearly had remarkable genes,” her younger son, Robert Berg, told the newspaper.
She was an officer and president of the Nordea Chapter of Hadassah, a member of the Sisterhood of Temple Israel of Hollywood, and a member of the temple itself for 85 years.
Interviewed by the Los Angeles times in her 110th year of life, Berg maintained an active lifestyle, playing bridge, reading, eating chocolate and enjoying the company of family, friends and her team of caregivers.

Yes, I remember seeing her on the titanic. She was saved in the same raft as I was.
