The fighting took place in the Zeitun region, which the IDF is clearing from terrorists in order to create a new corridor for providing humanitarian aid while bypassing Hamas. Major Shuminov was killed by an anti-tank missile.

Shuminov served as a company commander in the Givati Brigade’s Shaked Battalion.Following his death, Shuminov was promoted from the rank of captain to the rank of major.

“The IDF shares the sorrow of the family and will continue to support them,” the IDF said.

A senior foreign ministry official whose son served under Shuminov described him as the “legendary commander of the Shaked battalion, who influenced my son to become an officer. The people of Israel have lost a modern-day version of Yoav Ben Tzruyah”

A senior foreign ministry official whose son served under Shuminov described him as…a modern-day version of Yoav Ben Tzruyah”. Such offensive Zionism (that’s redundant). The Zionist official cannot possibly fathom the greatness of Yoav ben Tzeruyah; his military position in Dovid HaMelech’s kingdom is a side-point.
