Rav Landau is seen speaking strongly in favor of voting, and suggests it can harm the masses to refrain.

“It’s mandatory to go out and vote. If someone wants to exempt himself from putting on tefillin, he won’t harm others but he harms others if he doesn’t vote.”

The Rosh Yeshiva added, “Whoever doesn’t want to vote shouldn’t put on tefillin.”

Instead of arguing from afar, the yeshivishe/Charedishe community both in Israel and Galus should figure out the next political moves- and fiscal ones also- as a day of reckoning is approaching. The religious zionists who could be counted on to support them in the past will abandon them politically given the sheer volume of boys who have been killed and maimed while the black hat bochurim hid behind their gemaras (not saying to stop learning, but certainly some of those boys could have volunteered. Even the Steipler had R Chaim enlisted during the 1948 war). So think agressively- a certain percentage of boys go for x amount of time, they do some sort of public service- but either do it voluntarily, or when they cut the budgets of those Mosdos, there will be outright hunger in Bnei Brak.

Ah, so they should stop learning to go out and vote because they’re harming others by not doing so, but they’re not harming others by refusing to join the army because they can’t stop learning… Sickening.

To encourage people to vote is commendable- but to say if one doesnt vote they should not be laying tefillin is unfathomable. LayingTefillin in itself is a weapon.
