JERUSALEM (VINnews) — New details have emerged on the ongoing IDF operation in the A-Shifa hospital compound, including intelligence information obtained from the over 350 Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists captured in the raid, and strategies used to surround the hospital and prevent the escape of terrorists.

Army radio reporter Doron Kadosh described how the Shayetet 13 unit reached the scene in 15 minutes, followed soon after by the 401 brigade on tanks, APVs and D-9s, completing the encirclement of the Shifa compound.
Some 90 terrorists have been killed so far, and 350 others captured and kept in a wing of the hospital which has become a temporary Shin Bet interrogation area. The IDF says that based on information obtained from the terrorists, the air force has already conducted some targeted bombing raids. The captured terrorists are described as a “gold mine” of intelligence information and many have been transferred to Israel for further interrogations.
One of the captured terrorists is Islamic Jihad leader Khaled El-Batash. Many other medium-level Hamas and Islamic Jihad commanders have been arrested or killed.

Shayetet 13 fighters eliminate Hamas terrorist at Shifa hospital
The terrorists stated that they thought the hospital was a safe spot to reach, and did not think the IDF would strike so fast and prevent their escape. Hamas had attempted in recent months to restore the tunnels destroyed by the IDF under Shifa but the current system was not yet operational for usage and the IDF is working to destroy the renewed tunnels.
One of the terrorists said that: “I understood that Allah had given me two options- surrender or die, so I chose to surrender.”
Another of the detainees, an Islamic Jihad terrorist, recently fired rockets at the settlements surrounding the Gaza Strip. During his interrogation, he said, “We left Shifa – we fired at Sderot – and returned to Shifa, because we understood it was a safe area.”
During the operation at the hospital, codenamed “Internal operation”, the forces seized Hamas military archives and binders stolen by Hamas from the Erez crossing on October 7, including sensitive COGAT (Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories) unit information.
Military correspondent Kobi Finkler reported that the large amounts of weaponry used by terrorists in the hospital had been smuggled via ambulances carrying sick people to the compound in recent months.

People ask what israel’s plan for the day after is and what did the operation in Sifa help if they are back? Well this is the answer, Israel will need to be able to enter and exit quickly before the enemy reestablishes itself. I am sure that before they left Shifa the first time, they mapped out every inch of infrastrucre inside. That enbaled them to act bodly and quickly. This is part of the war. After we get them, we will have to go back many times but we know the terrian and their infratcrutre is so weak now (you see they couldn’t crall back into tunnels) Thats the idea
