The protesters made noise with horns and chanted against Charedim. The demonstrators declared that they were waiting for Rabbi Dov Landau shlit’a, to exit the building so they could confront him in person.

The Rosh Yeshiva was scheduled to leave the building for an important conference of Roshei Yeshiva, but the protesters blocked the road, so that he would not be able to exit.

In order to help Rabbi Landau escape without being blocked, the bochurim came up with a clever strategy to resolve the situation. With the assistance of law enforcement, they orchestrated a plan, asking R’ Yossi Rosenfeld, the yeshiva‘s cook, he agreed to wear a hat and a long coat, dressing as the Rosh Yeshiva.

The students accompanied him with singing and the respect customary for a Rosh Yeshiva.

The protesters, believing it was Rav Landau, dispersed after the chef got into a car. Several minutes later, Rabbi Landau exited the building

Very funny – I watched this clip several times for a good laugh.
The cook is in the wrong business, he should be an actor as he player the role extremely well. How he walked slowly, making the hand moments. Give the cook credit.

Call me FarFrumt, or FarCrumt, but as a Torah yid, I ask shaylos to poskim instead of acting with my own daas baal habayis. There are dinim of גניבת דעת and prohibition of רמאות that sadly many frum yidden are lax in. This seems to be such a case. No, we cannot use deception and trickery simply because it will achieve our goal. Emes is allergic to sheker. Bnei Torah must act with Emes. Unless a better was given, this is presumed to be prohibited!

“they refused to leave until the Rosh Yeshivah, HaGaon HaRav Dov Landau, come out and talk to them” and the Rosh Yeshiva passed up the opportunity to say a few words of Emunah to these misguided yidden?! Instead of telling them, “Shema Yisroel, Hashem Eleikunu, Hashem Echod” and “Av echad l’kulanu”, he escaped the opportunity and responsibility. It’s a shame.
