Alei Siach  is an Israeli nonprofit organization serving children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. The organization provides residential care, vocational training, employment opportunities, marital assistance and social activities, and promotes integration within the broader community.

Alei Siach was founded by Rabbi Chaim Perkal in 1990 after his daughter Rivky was born with special needs. He aimed to create a high level of support and care for people living with special needs in a home-like environment, within a community.

The organization published a mourning statement Sunday, saying that “The Alei Siach family is pained and grieves the terrible tragedy which occurred in the morning hours. Unfortunately two of those who resided in the Alei Siach apartment succumbed in the tragic event. We stand by the grieving families and those of the injured and embrace them at this difficult hour, and we will do all in our power to support them and stand with them. We are also monitoring the injured residents in hospital and ensuring their welfare.”

The organization added that it was cooperating fully with investigative authorities in order to understand the circumstances which led to the tragedy. “We will perform thorough inquiries in all of our frameworks in coordination with the authorities to ensure the safety and welfare of all of the residents. This is at the top of our list of priorities. We offer sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and wish speedy recovery to the injured.”
