In his will, he wrote that his bier should be carried specifically by the “dropouts” (noshrim) and expressed his wish to be buried among them, “because in Heaven they are considered very important — even more than ordinary ‘fine’ Chassidim.”

Below is the full text:

“I wish to write something to you, and it is possible you will not understand at all why this is my desire. On another occasion I will explain it to you very, very well.

A. My bier at the funeral should be carried specifically by the noshrim (youth who have fallen out of the system), for they are preferable to all the ‘fine people.’

B. My grave should indeed be among Shabbos observant Jews, but it is best if it is next to the noshrim or the simple folk — truly simple people.

And the reason is that in Heaven they are considered very important, much more than ordinary Chassidim who wear fine clothing. And on another occasion I will explain to you why.” [Apparently by noshrim he does not mean secular people, but rather those who did not maintain the full chasidic apparel and customs, although they continued to maintain their observance]

At the funeral procession, which departed from the Breslov shul, a large crowd accompanied him, including many who see themselves as “noshrim.”

I am glad to hear that there are still some real talmidei Baal Shem Tov remaining — those that don’t mock the entire movement by creating “courts”, communities that exclude other yiden, and uniforms.

mashpia means influencer, not inspirer. and maybe he wanted to use his death and burial to hashpia even more. bd”h.

Do these dropouts want to be identified as such & have this illustrious honor?
I don’t think so.
Publicity ruins good intentions.

On the one hand, this seems very nice. Reaching out to OTD youth.
On the other hand, what must a chasid think, after being a frum and righteous person, that the Rebbe prefers not to be near him or to honor him.
I am sure he had his reasons but there is no explanation. BDE.
