The victims — Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23; Eden Yerushalmi, 24; Ori Danino, 25; Alex Lobanov, 32; Carmel Gat, 40; and Almog Sarusi, 27 — were executed by their captors in an underground tunnel in Rafah’s Tel Sultan neighborhood on Aug. 29, 2024. Their bodies were discovered by Israeli troops two days later on Sept. 1.
The newly released footage, recovered during military operations in the Gaza Strip, was made public Wednesday by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum with the consent of the bereaved families.
According to forensic evidence presented by the IDF at the time, the six civilians were shot multiple times at close range shortly before troops reached the tunnel, in what the military described as a deliberate act to prevent their rescue.
Hersh Goldberg-Polin, an American-Israeli dual citizen, was abducted from the Nova music festival; Eden Yerushalmi, a bartender at the same festival; Ori Danino, who returned to the site to rescue friends; Alex Lobanov, a young father; Carmel Gat, taken from Kibbutz Be’eri; and Almog Sarusi, also from the Nova festival, were among the 251 people kidnapped to Gaza during Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023 massacre.
The families said the additional footage was released “so that the world will know the cruelty of Hamas.
Previously unaired footage shows the brutal conditions the hostages endured — the bruises, the bloodstains on their shirts, the darkness, the fear.*
