BONDI BEACH – Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese attended a Hanukkah candle lighting Friday night at the Great Synagogue in Sydney, offering a message of solidarity following the deadly antisemitic attack at Bondi Beach.

“Tonight at the Great Synagogue in Sydney we honour the memory of those lost,” Albanese wrote on X. “We stand with their families and the Jewish Australian community in this time of grief. All Australians stand together against antisemitism and hatred.”
Albanese’s appearance came after days of criticism from political opponents, members of the Jewish community and media commentators over his government’s response to rising antisemitism in Australia.
