The 91-year-old former Senate majority leader made the comment Monday during a campaign rally for Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts, who’s in a tight race for re-election against independent candidate Greg Orman. Romney spoke at the event in the Kansas City surburb of Overland Park.
Romney was the GOP nominee in 2012, when Democratic President Barack Obama won re-election. Dole was the 1996 presidential nominee.
Dole drew loud applause from the crowd of several hundred people when he introduced Romney, saying “I want him to run again.”
As Romney worked the crowd afterward, he ignored a reporter’s question about whether he’d run in 2016. He’s said previously that he won’t.
He had his chance. Who was the last guy to run twice from a major party?
Dole wants Romney to run………………….One Loser to another Loser.
I think was Richard Nixon. There is lots of Precedence for it in history. I’m not saying that Romney would be the best choice, but the country did make a big mistake last time by not electing him. He would be a good President. He is knowledgeable, bright, as honest as any politician could be and moral.
You are all right of course. I just ought not to type before my coffee. Thank you all.
The only person who can beat Hillary is Bill…
Of course I would vote for Romney if he is nominated: I think he is a great man and will be a very good President. I think Rand Paul is far superior choice, however.
Romney is a miserable choice, he won’t be elected if he runs. There wasn’t a single viable Republican who ran for the last election. The last decent Republican candidate was McCain and he shot himself in the foot by listening to the far right and bringing Palin into his campaign. If the Republicans can’t come up with a better roster of candidates than the same old regurgitated politicians from the last primary election the end result will be the same.
