The Staten Island Advance http://bit.ly/1LBsrek says the incidents galvanized elected officials and residents.
The NYPD said Monday it had a suspect in custody, and identified him as 26 year old Vincent Rodriguez from Staten Island.
Police say the week-long graffiti spree used variations of the phrase “End the Fed.”
The one that referenced President Barack Obama included an obscenity.
The targets included six banks. The graffiti also marred two flag murals that graced the facades of a supermarket and an ice cream shop.
