In the unsourced report, Army Radio also quoted Biden as saying that he opposed “opening a additional military and diplomatic front.”
Biden, chairman of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has long been considered strongly pro-Israel. His nomination as Barack Obama’s running mate had been expected to shore up the Democrats’ strength with U.S. Jewish voters.
Army Radio said Israeli officials expressed “amazement” over the remarks attributed to him.
“Israel will have to reconcile itself with the nuclearization of Iran,” Army Radio quoted Biden as telling the unnamed officials.
“It’s doubtful if the economic sanctions will be effective, and I am against opening an additional military and diplomatic front.”
Last year, in a widely quoted interview with year the Jewish American Shalom TV, Biden said, “I am a Zionist. You don’t have to be a Jew to be a Zionist,” adding that “Israel is the single greatest strength that America has in the Middle East,” and that its presence as a strategic ally meant that America need station far fewer troops and warships in the region.

Biden Camp Tells the J-Post that the Report on Iran is a Lie.
A spokesman for US Democratic vice presidential candidate Joseph Biden on Monday scathingly rejected an Army Radio report which claimed he told Jerusalem officials three years ago that he was firmly opposed to an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities and that Israel would likely have to come to terms with a nuclear Iran.
“This is a lie peddled by partisan opponents of Senators Obama and Biden and we will not tolerate anyone questioning Senator Biden’s 35-year record of standing up for the security of Israel,” Biden’s press secretary David Wade said in a statement.
“Joe Biden’s first trip as a senator was to Israel, he has worked with every Israeli leader from Golda Meir to Prime Minister Olmert, and he takes a back seat to no one when it comes to protecting the relationship between Israel and the US.,” Wade added. “Senator Biden has consistently stated – publicly and privately – that a nuclear Iran would pose a grave threat to Israel and the United States and that we must prevent a nuclear Iran.”
thanks mr biden. now we all know what kind of jew lover you are. a goy bleibt a goy.
What an IDIOT!
its all a bunge of hog wash!!
he is so stupid and ken zich nist eihalten.couldnt wait till after the election.
we are not sure if he indeed said that
Obama is great for the Neturei Karta, Neo Nazis and the Palestinians. Vote for Obama-Biden 08!
Joe Biden has never been anything but pro-Israel, but all of a sudden now, when he’s running against the Republicans for VP he’s going to turn completely around? I don’t believe it. I wonder which Republican lackey made this up and then ‘leaked’ it to the press.
What a differnce between abamas choise & Mccains choise.
I think Mccain will win BIG TIME….
goes to show you that 35 years in the senate still didnt teach him anything (so much for so called experience)
“Israel will have to reconcile itself with the nuclearization of Iran,” =begining of world war 3

Last time I checked, the haaretz newspaper wasn’t a right wing paper. Don’t discredit every piece of news that makes you uncomfortable.
If this comment is true then we know for certain Israel will once again have no choice but to take care of the Iran problem on its own!
Joe,
Until you daven everyday and say of the brochos of Bonay Yerushalaim, Ha’machzir sh’chinoso l’Tzion three times a day, you are not wanting tzion and what it really means. You are still a gruba sheygitz!
Too bad the term was hijacked by those whom we now know as ‘zionists’ because they were no where to be seen until they stole the “word” from those of us who actually say the words 3 times a day!
send biden to live in tehran
thats because the stupid bush admin just denied israels attempted purchase of planes to potentially fight attack with
dont go railing on biden when bush was asleep at the wheel for 8 years and is no stifiling israels attempt to defend itself.
One thing we all agree is, While Mccain deffinitely boosted his desirability with his VP choice, Obama did NOT… Nobody was thrilled for a minute about the Biden choice, and now if it turns out he indeed made these statements, I believe he may actually do enough damage to hurt Obama’s chances in November.
This is only for being a candidate with Obama, wait and see what will be if he actualy won. (CHAS V’CHOLEELA)

Pay attention to what the Democrats have become. Just look at what they did to Leiberman, who votes with them on everything except Iraq.
Biden has no backbone and will not oppose his party’s prevailing attitudes, no matter how perverted they are.
It makes no difference if the quote is accurate. He is in the VP slot. What counts is what Obama thinks – and we know that already. Lo aleinu
Why are “heimishe” people so pro-War when they don’t ever shed a single drop of blood but want others (Jews or non-Jews) to do their work for them? WHY? I have been asking this question for years and never get an explanation.
biden has served 6 terms in the senate and has served this country and the jews very well during all that time.
he should be the nominee no th veep
If Biden actually said this, he is putting the security of the UNITED STATES (not just Israel) in jeopardy.
biden maybe as he says is a zionost but he sure is a “realist” and your comments are (——)
To the last anonymous. I’ll answer your question if you address my own question about the heimishe types who only want to see blood and war, but not from among their own, of course. Thank you.
anonymous 9/1, 2:25 pm,
Actually you can ask why most Americans were so pro-war in 2003. I was against the war in Iraq since I didn’t believe they had much to do with 9/11 (compared to, say, Saudi Arabia) although I did think hunting for bin Laden in Afghanistan was a good idea.
The problem is by fighting in Iraq we’ve helped take out Iran’s largest enemy in the region, plus we’ve spread our military such that Iran knows we can’t do much to them militarily.
In general most upper class Americans have little to do with fighting a war. And thanks to the Bush administration, they have even less to do with paying the taxes that would support it.
I think you know what I mean. I am talking about Jewish people with regard to world affairs, Iran, Palestine, etc. The ones who want to wipe out Iran, wipe out Palestinians, etc. with views that are totally opposite to the Torah and halacha.
The problem is not Biden. The problem is the Israeli leadership lacks a yid with guts like Menachem Begin who said to hell with the world I am going to do the right thing and eliminate the Iraqu Nuclear threat in Osirak. If the Israelis had such a leader today, the Iranian threat would be nutralized with or without the USA.
Please post comments responsibly as all comments are moderated.comments – arrow anonymous 2:25 it all comes with the territory when you have a whole community of hypocrites who look down on non jews but then cry anti semite at the slightest provocation …….i lost my faith in this community as a whole- all they know how to do is whine and incite (oh yeah and pat themselves on the back when someone in the community makes a “kiddush hashem”)……………………….mi keamcha yisroel-oooooook
Menachem Begin? Anyone who is not shomer Torah umitzvos is not a person to be admired, chas vesholom.
Dear Ex-Frummie. Please discuss your feelings in detail because I see what you are driving at. However, remember, we follow the Torah not because of people but because of Hashem. Some people became ex-frummies because they abandoned the Torah due to disillusionment with human beings. This is a very complicated topic, especially in an age where the frum community is bombarded 24/7 by non-spiritual Zionist propaganda…….
5:26, who are you to judge?
begin put on tefillin in the years before he died
Anon 526 Begin was an orthodox observant Jew in every respect and you tried to smear him – you owe everyone an apology. .
Biden has accomplished ZERO in all his time in the senate.
The statement about nuclear Iran may as well be true – its amazing that the Democrat party would respond to it if it is false – but Democrats are not inclined to take action against terrorists and their supportive terror states.
Clinton did zero even with a clear shot at Osama Bin Laden even after multiple terror attacks; it took a Republican Bush to take action while the Democrats have undercut our nation continuously since this War has begun.
In other words, Biden says to Israel, please don’t attack Iran and we also for sure won’t attack it. Get ready for a nuclear Iran.
Thanks for making it very clear Mr. Biden! Now, because of your statement, we all know how the Obaminable Showman also thinks, because you Mr. Biden, would not dare say that unless the Obamination agreed. Husein’s true color (and I don’t mean black, I mean red [angry]), has now finally come out.
You already agree with Iran and you already have fallen for their rhetoric.
Bye Bye Biden.
If Israel wants to attack Iran,it should do so before Bush finihes his presidential era.Afterthat i cant see any support from both presidential candidates.
mark levin you are a walking chilul hashem
“biden clown” – another moron who posts like a 5 year old
what a sham……. joe biden every time you open your mouth and have your aids call up on the press to say its a libel and a lie…
get a life
joe biden has done more for israel in 6 terms in the senate since 1972 than bush has done for 8 years as president
Sarah Palin vs. Barack Obama
Democrats, between sniggers of derision and snorts of disgust, contend that Sarah Palin, John McCain’s vice-presidential pick is ridiculously unqualified to be president.
It’s a reasonable objection on its face except for this small objection: it surely needs to be weighed against the Democrats’ claim that their own candidate for president is self-evidently ready to assume the role of most powerful person on the planet.
At first blush, here’s what we know about the relative experience of the two candidates. Both are in their mid-forties and have held statewide elective office for less than four years. Both have admitted to taking illegal drugs in their youth.
So much for the similarities. How about the differences?
Political experience
Obama: Worked his way to the top by cultivating, pandering to and stroking the most powerful interest groups in the all-pervasive Chicago political machine, ensuring his views were aligned with the power brokers there.
Palin: Worked her way to the top by challenging, attacking and actively undermining the Republican party establishment in her native Alaska. She ran against incumbent Republicans as a candidate willing and able to clean the Augean Stables of her state’s government.
Political Biography
Obama: A classic, if unusually talented, greasy-pole climber. Held a succession of jobs that constitute the standard route to the top in his party’s internal politics: “community organizer”, law professor, state senator.
Palin:A woman with a wide range of interests in a well-variegated life. Held a succession of jobs – sports journalist, commercial fisherwoman, state oil and gas commissioner, before entering local politics. A resume that suggests something other than burning political ambition from the cradle but rather the sort of experience that enables her to understand the concerns of most Americans..
Political history
Obama: Elected to statewide office only after a disastrous first run for a congressional seat and after his Republican opponent was exposed in a sexual scandal. Won seat eventually in contest against a candidate who didn’t even live in the state.
Palin: Elected to statewide office by challenging a long-serving Republican incumbent governor despite intense opposition from the party.
Appeal
Obama: A very attractive speaker whose celebrity has been compared to that of Britney Spears and who sends thrills up Chris Matthews’ leg
Palin: A very attractive woman, much better-looking than Britney Spears who speaks rather well too. She sends thrills up the leg of Rush Limbaugh (and me).
Executive experience
Obama: Makes executive decisions every day that affect the lives of his campaign staff and a vast crowd of traveling journalists
Palin:Makes executive decisions every day that affect the lives of 500,000 people in her state, and that impact crucial issues of national economic interest such as the supply and cost of energy to the United States.
Religious influences
Obama: Regards people who “cling” to religion and guns as “bitter” . Spent 20 years being mentored and led spiritually by a man who proclaimed “God damn America” from his pulpit. Mysteriously, this mentor completely disappeared from public sight about four months ago.
Palin: Head of her high school Fellowship of Christian Athletes and for many years a member of the Assemblies of God congregation whose preachers have never been known to accuse the United States of deliberately spreading the AIDS virus. They remain in full public sight and can be seen every Sunday in churches across Alaska. A proud gun owner who has been known to cling only to the carcasses of dead caribou felled by her own aim.
Record of bipartisan achievement
Obama: Speaks movingly of the bipartisanship needed to end the destructive politics of “Red America” and “Blue America”, but votes in the Senate as a down-the-line Democrat, with one of the most liberal voting records in congress.
Palin: Ridiculed by liberals such as John Kerry as a crazed, barely human, Dick Cheney-type conservative but worked wit Democrats in the state legislature to secure landmark anti-corruption legislation.
Former state Rep. Ethan Berkowitz – a Democrat – said. “Gov. Palin has made her name fighting corruption within her own party, and I was honored when she stepped across party lines and asked me to co-author her ethics white paper.”
On Human Life
Obama: Devoutly pro-choice. Voted against a bill in the Illinois state senate that would have required doctors to save the lives of babies who survived abortion procedures. The implication of this position is that babies born prematurely during abortions would be left alone, unnourished and unmedicated, until they died.
Palin: Devoutly pro-life. Exercised the choice proclaimed by liberals to bring to full term a baby that had been diagnosed in utero with Down Syndrome.
Now it’s true there are other crucial differences. Sen Obama has appeared on Meet The Press every other week for the last four years. He has been the subject of hundreds of adoring articles in papers and newsweeklies and TV shows and has written two Emmy-award winning books.
Gov Palin has never appeared on Meet the Press, never been on the cover of Newsweek. She presumably feels that, as a mother of five children married to a snowmobile champion, who also happens to be the first woman and the youngest person ever to be elected governor of her state, she has not really done enough yet to merit an autobiography.
Then again, I’m willing to bet that if she had authored The Grapes of Wrath, sung like Edith Piaf and composed La Traviata , she still wouldn’t have won an Emmy.
Fortunately, it will be up to the American people and not their self-appointed leaders in Hollywood and New York to determine who really has the better experience to be president.
hmmmm -a little plagiarism from gerard baker huh?
TO anonymous 9/1 2:25 & 3:52,
I really don’t think that most “heimishe” types want to see blood & war. I doubt there are any “heimishe” people involved in the Project for the New American Century or in the upper echelons of the Bush administration. That’s where the push for the war in Iraq came from.
Now it’s also true that there aren’t many “heimishe” in the military either. But I think that’s because our military is comprised disproportionately of those from lower socio-economic classes, for whom the military represents the best opportunity for career advancement & education. And given the Christian protelytizing/ coercion that’s going on in our military schools I doubt you’d see many heimishe there either.
I do think that some frum people tend to reflexively support Bush because they feel he stands up to terrorism & because they agree with his political opponents. Personally I disagree with this view because I feel that the war in Iraq has not made the world safer wrt terrorism, & has hurt the US strategically.
I don’t think most “heimishe” want to see civilians killed anywhere. But most do want to see a change in the Palestinian leadership that will make Palestinians safer & wealthier, & help foster peace.
I also personally believe that a nuclear Iran would have huge ramifications, & think the world would be safer if the US could prevent this from happening.
If this comment is true then Bidden is an idiot for even thinking that this would be acceptible….true or not him and Obama should get No Jewish votes..
Biden is denying the substance of this story:

Joe Biden will have to reconcile himself to being on the losing team. He has been described as a”zionist”, very pro-Israel, and pro- Jewish, for years and years. Well he just wiped out all his suppossed good deeds in one split second with this crude remark, and politicaly stupid. He seemed a lot more polished and sophisticated, politcally speaking to have actually said this-PRE ELECTION, whether he feels this way or not.
“Biden” is gematriah “corruption”
“For the second time since he was named Barack Obama’s running mate, Joe Biden, was mistakenly elevated to the top of the ticket. ‘I will be back, I’ll be back to campaign in earnest, but today is not the moment for me to campaign. Today is the moment for me as a United States senator running for president to put aside the national politics and focus on what’s happening down there,’ he said, even though he is running for vice president.”
