NEW YORK (VINnews) — During Tuesday’s shootout between police and criminal elements in Jersey City, five civilians, including the two suspects, and a police detective were killed.

A report by the New York Post reveals that one of the officers involved in the final shootout and elimination of the suspects was the police-detective son of former NYPD Commissioner Bernard Kerik, Joe Kerik.
Kerik, a member of the federal task force and an officer in the Newark, N.J. police department, was among those in the armored police truck which smashed into the front of the mini-market where the criminals had barricaded themselves.
Detective Kerik and two Jersey City cops then jumped out and stormed the shop, shooting the suspects dead, according to a source close to the Post and a law-enforcement official.
Bernard Kerik told The Post that he was “very proud’’ of his son, as well as the two other cops who killed the suspects.
He added that “First, my thoughts and prayers go to Detective Seals’ family and his coworkers,’’ referring to the Jersey City officer, Joseph Seals, who was fatally shot in the head by the criminals earlier.
“What happened today demonstrates the dangers involved in policing on a day-to-day basis, and it also shows the dedication and perseverance of police officers all over the country,” Bernard Kerik told the Post.
The former commissioner said that his son was being treated for bruising.
Bernard Kerik also tweeted in the evening, “At Jersey City Medical Center with my son Joe…he’s okay by Prayers for the Jersey City Police and their fallen officer.”
At least four innocent people died in the shooting rampage, including Detective Seals, a father of five. Two other policemen were injured.
Bernard Kerik headed the New York City Police Department under Mayor Giuliani in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Your sycophantic genuflecting for his father, the convicted felon and ex-con, is so intense that you’re leaving imprints in the rug.
Please stop. Just stop.
I agree 100% with Vos-reader; the above article conveniently neglected to mention that Bernard Kerik is the only Police Commissioner, in the 174 year history of the New York Police Department, to have been convicted of multiple felonies, and to have been sentenced to four years in a federal prison for tax fraud, lying to federal prosecutors, ethics violations, etc. Yet, in spite of his criminal conviction, Fox News loves to have Bernard Kerik on as “an expert commentator”. They do the same thing with former L.A. Detective Mark Fuhrman, who was also convicted of perjury, and who beat up a Jewish couple at a movie theater, while working security at an L.A. movie theater.
